Abstract
Rationalization of the use of surface and groundwater, leading to the reduction of their consumption, is currently one of the basic tasks in the field of broadly understood water protection. The use of water is also part of this trend from additional sources, such as e.g. treated sewage. The purpose of this study is to develop guidelines for the construction of a hybrid constructed wetland wastewater treatment plant with a closed water circuit, which is planned to be implemented in the service settlement of the Poleski National Park. The experience to date shows that hybrid constructed wetland wastewater treatment plants, especially of the VF-HF type (with vertical and horizontal flow), ensure a high degree of removal of organic pollutants from wastewater expressed as BOD5 and COD indicators, total suspended solids, biogenic compounds, heavy metals and microbiological, hazardous indicators from a sanitary point of view. The forester’s lodge next to which the planned facility will be built is located in Włodawa poviat, Hańsk commune, in the town of Kulczyn. The plot is developed with a residential and utility building. A residential building, inhabited by a family of 4. The effect of the project will be, first of all, the reduction of groundwater pollution by the existing household wastewater treatment plant with drainage pipe. The design and implementation of a hybrid constructed wetland wastewater treatment plant with a closed water circuit will contribute to the introduction of a highly effective technology, similar to the natural conditions of the park’s natural environment, and will allow for better preservation of those elements that are particularly sensitive to pollution (i.e. groundwater). Re-use of properly treated, treated wastewater, e.g. for flushing the toilet, washing a car, or irrigating garden crops and lawns, will reduce the consumption of high-quality drinking water used for these purposes. The implementation of a hybrid wetland treatment plant, and then its promotion, will draw the attention of the local community to the issue of wastewater treatment along with the possibility of recovering the treated water for reuse. The planned investment will constitute a model for other activities in this direction and will allow for wider use of the developed technology by various institutions and private persons.
