Abstract

White clay is made of a ceramic layered mineral (aluminum silicate) that comes from the interior of the earth. White clay is also known as porcelain clay, is used for the production of porcelain, cosmetics (a component of the toothpaste, masks, shampoos) because of its nutritious, cleansing, and brightening properties, and is applied in the food industry, medicine, and pharmacy because it cleans and protects, soothes irritations intestines. Activated carbon is usually produced through two main processes: carbonization and activation. The activated carbon can be manufactured by pyrolysis of organic materials of plant origin. The activated carbon is used as an adsorbent for water treatment, and medications or dietary supplements that trap and remove toxic substances from the organism. Lavender is a plant from the mint family with an aromatic scent that has some beneficial properties. The lavender contains numerous tannins, anthocyanins, organic acids, and mineral salts. Lavender has a wide range of uses. It is used for health purposes, in cosmetics and even cooking. It works great as an effective remedy for insects. Furthermore, it comes in the form of oils, infusions, tinctures, and spices, but it can also be eaten raw. The lavender aroma soothes the feeling of tiredness and fatigue, and helps to relax, without causing a decrease in concentration or weakening of mental activity. In this work, materials based on white clay, activated carbon, and lavender petals were obtained by mechanochemical activation with the use of a knife milling. The structural properties of the composites were analyzed using the Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques. The kinetic release of anthocyanin was investigated using the UV-Vis technique. The carcinogenicity, toxicity and development, as well as allergenicity and immunotoxicity of the composites, were estimated using the “RANA” program (Institute of Surface Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). The obtained composites may be used as cosmetics or food-stuffs recipes..
