Abstract
The environmental condition of the territory is of great importance for the development of beekeeping, which significantly affects the quality of the obtained products. The natural honey-bearing flora of the forest-steppe zone in the early spring period is extremely rich and diverse, honey bees visit about 90 different types of plants. The purpose was monitoring the state of the early spring honey flora and its influence on the development and productivity of bee colonies. Field research was conducted at two apiary points located in a mixed forest (Serhiivka v.) and the forest next to meadows used for pastures and hayfields (Khittsi v.) of Myrhorod district, Poltava region. Five bee co,lonies from each apiary were used in the experiments. The summer activity of bees was determined in the early spring period on experimental families every 12 days. The biodiversity of honey-bearing vegetation was studied in two experimental apiaries, within the radius of productive flight of bees (2 km): species composition, quantity, and dynamics of bee flight activity were also established, that in both experimental apiaries, the development of bee families was dynamic, without any particular delays, although the spring was cold and warm, sunny days alternated with cold, rainy ones when the bees did not fly at all. It was established that, before planned honey pumping, bee colonies in natural conditions have a sufficient amount of food reserves: carbohydrate feed – 46.17±1.01 – 54.20±0.18 kg, and 81.3±0.24 – 70.6±0.07 squares of protein fodder per bee colony. In early spring, honey bees work actively and dynamically in natural conditions throughout the daylight hours. Planting and sowing of honey-bearing, introduced and little-spread plants in the natural honey-bearing flora is one of the ways to improve the fodder base for bees by 30-40%. Bee colonies in the natural honey flora develop dynamically, there are no sterile periods, and at the end of June they have a strength of 14.4±0.75 and 15.2±0.87 hives.
