Abstract

This article characterizes the process of cutting multilayer structures using a water-water jet and analyzes the quality indicators of this process. Two quality indicators were selected for the analysis to evaluate the process of cutting multilayer structures. The first is the topography of the surface being cut, and the second is the fault formed at the boundary of the materials being cut. When analyzing the indicators, the defects that occur when cutting heterogeneous structures, related to the occurrence of delamination of individual materials and delamination between the materials being joined, were also taken into account. The presented analysis of the indicators of the quality of the water-jet cutting process makes it possible to assess the effectiveness of the quality of this process in the case of multilayer materials. The results obtained indicate that the water-wet abrasive jet can be an effective method for cutting this type of materials, provided that appropriate cutting parameters are used, taking into account the properties of the materials being cut.
