Abstract

Buckwheat is one of the most popular crops in Europe. As an agricultural post–productions waste, buckwheat husk is used to substitute down feathers for allergy sufferers filling pillows, quilts, and duvets. The literature analysis shows that research has already been carried out on buckwheat husks as additives into the polymer matrix but only to a limited extent in the injection and rotational casting process. The husk usage as an additive to polymers in the screw plasticizing process requires further research and measurements. Polymer compositions filled with buckwheat husk before and after grinding will be subject to testing. PP synthetic material will be the base of the polymer matrix. The research will aim to assess the impact of the size and form of the filler on selected physical and mechanical properties of the end – product, relating to the processing method, which will be extrusion and injection. The research program will assess the degradation degree of samples placed in the soil concerning products subjected to the accelerated aging process in the UV chamber.
