Abstract

Tilted fibre Bragg grating (TFBG) are applied as an optical sensors to detect various physical properties with high sensitivity and accuracy. There were developed many algorithms to demodulate the TFBG spectrum. This research presents the usage of spectrum length method to receive the metrological parameters of TFBG spectrum. The spectrum length method is a sum of the derivative filter responses. In order to improve the spectrum length method there were conducted the analysis of the influence of filter selection on the spectral length method results. The filters were implemented to smooth input data and reduce noise of the signal. There were selected various kind of smooth filters e.g Savizty-Golay filter, moving average filter, Noriss gap derivative filter. For each filter there were considered different values of filter parameters, e.g filter order and filter window size. The resolution parameter was used to conduct the comparative analysis of applied smooth filters. The research analysis was supported by MATLAB environment and there were developed several functions and main code to automate the analysis process. The results of the research presents that the resolution parameter supported efficiently the optimal filter parameters selection. The optimal filter parameters are crucial in the context of efficient demodulation algorithm with low computational complexity. There were obtain optimal window size and order filter for each filter separately. The research analysis could be used in the further improvement of spectral length method in TFBG spectrum demodulation.
