Abstract

The aging of populations worldwide poses significant socio-medical challenges, particularly regarding nutritional care for older individuals. Increased life expectancy, coupled with advances in medicine and socio-economic conditions, necessitate an understanding of the role of dietary strategies in preventing and managing age-related health issues. This study focuses on analyzing the impact of therapeutic dietary strategies concerning geriatric obesity with accompanying comorbidity, alongside identifying nutritional errors and their effects on the health of aging populations. The literature review underscores significant nutritional irregularities among older adults, including excessive consumption of sugar, salt, and fat. Additionally, patient cases are presented wherein dietary interventions have focused on weight reduction through appropriately tailored diets. In light of the conducted research, personalized dietary plans for older individuals are crucial, incorporating principles of a healthy diet, macronutrient balance, and meal regularity. Furthermore, education on healthy eating habits and promotion of physical activity are key components of effective nutritional therapy in the geriatric population. The findings from this analysis suggest not only the need for individualized dietary strategies but also the importance of educational efforts aimed at improving the health and quality of life of older individuals. There is also the prospect of utilizing shared dietary approaches for patients with diverse medical conditions, necessitating flexibility and specialized knowledge in conducting nutritional therapy in the geriatric population.
