Abstract

The study aimed to assess the level of water contamination with pharmacologically active substances in the Ciemięga River flowing into the reservoir in Jastków near Lublin and the efficiency of purification of this water using a hybrid constructed wetland wastewater treatment plant located before the retention reservoir in Jastków. Water for laboratory analysis was collected from 9 measurement points located in different places of the hydrophyte system: at the outflow from the reservoir in Jastków, at the inflow to the reservoir from a mid-field stream, and from the Ciemięga River before and after the newly built retention reservoir in Jastków in 2024. The following parameters were determined in the collected water samples: Aciclovir, Alprazolam, Amantadine, Amoxicillin, Amphetamine, Atorvastatin, Atropine, Azithromycin, Benzydamine, Bisacodyl, Bisoprolol, Caffeine, Carbamazepine, Cetirizine, Chloroquine, Chlorprothixene, Ciprofloxacin, Clarithromycin, Clemastine, Clindamycin, Clomipramine, Clonazepam, Clozapine, Cocaine, Codeine, Cotinine, Dextromethorohan, Diazepam, Diclofenac, Diltiazem, Dimenhydrinate, Doxepin, Drotaverine, EDDP, Enrofloxacin, Ephedrine, Ergotamine, Escitalopram, Esomeprazole, Fexofenadine, Fluoxetine, Gabapentin, Heroin, Hydrochloroquine, Hydrocodone, Hydroxyzine, Imipramine, Ketoprofen, Lidocaine, Loratadine, Lorazepam, Lormetazepam, Losartan, Lovastatin, MDA, MDEA, MDMA, Meloxicam, Mepedrine, Metamizol, Metamphetamine, Methadone, Metoprolol, Mianserin, Naproxen, Nicotine, Nitrazepam, Olanzapine, Opipramol, Oxazepam, Oxycodone, Papaverine, Paracetamol, Pentoxifylline, Phencyclidine, Phentermine, Pilocarpine, Piracetam, Proadifen, Pseudoephedrine, Quetiapine, Quinine, Ritalinic acid, Sertraline, Sildenafil, Streptomycin, Strychnine, Tadalafil, Telmisartan, Temazepam, THC-COOH, Theobromine, Theophylline, Tianeptine, Tizanidine, Tolpersione, Tramadol, Trazodone, Verapamil, Bilastine, Carbamazepine 10,11-epoxide, Chlorpromazine, Promazine , Amitriptyline, Phenytoin, Desipramine, Haloperidol, Promethazine, Metoclopramide, Diphenhydramine, Simvastatin, Omeprazole, Ofloxacin, Atenolol, Acebutolol, Clonidine, Prednisolone, 4-MAA (4-Methylaminoantypyrynine) using high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). In all tested water samples, the level of the analysed chemical compounds was below the limit of detection (LOD), which confirms that neither in the Ciemięga River nor in the reservoir were the presence of the analysed compounds detected.
