The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of supplementing feed with a specific xylanase enzyme on the production performance of fattening pigs. The experiment was conducted at an experimental farm located in the Lublin region, where pigs were fed using a liquid feeding system. The xylanase enzyme at a dose of 0.200 g / t of feed was introduced into the feed for fattening pigs together with the Farmer’s Premix (Supplementary Feed Mixture).
Two pens housed 80 fattening pigs each. The control group consisted of 80 fattening pigs. The experiment was conducted on fattening pigs with an initial weight of 30 kg, reaching a body weight of approximately 130 kg at slaughter. The animals were fattening pigs with an equal number of gilts and boars. During the trial, a control group was compared with a group receiving feed supplemented with xylanase.
The production performance of fattened pigs was examined: daily gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and meat content. Results improved daily gain by 11%, feed conversion ratio decreased by 7%, and meat content increased by 0,72%. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in production parameters in the group receiving the enzyme supplement, including higher body weight gains, improved feed conversion efficiency, and increased pig carcass meatiness percentage. The obtained data suggest that the application of xylanase in liquid feeding systems for fattening pigs may contribute to the optimization of production performance and improvement of the economic efficiency of pig farming.
